Service Dog Training
Guidance for handlers pursuing service work, with an honest look at the dog, the tasks, and the commitment involved.
Who it's for
Prospective service dog teams, and handlers who need help developing specific tasks or public-access skills.
Every service dog question is answered individually. We look at your dog's temperament, health, and resilience, the tasks you need, and whether our approach is an appropriate fit. Not every dog is suited to service work, and public-access readiness is never assumed — if the fit isn't right, we'll say so before recommending a plan.
Prospective service dog teams
If you're at the beginning — working out whether a dog is suited to service work and whether you're ready to take it on — we start with an honest look at the dog, the handler, and the tasks before any plan is written.
Handlers with a dog already in training
If you already have a dog and need help developing specific tasks, or public-access skills and manners, we work on the gaps in front of us rather than starting the process over.
General goals
- Temperament and suitability assessment
- Public access foundations and neutrality
- Task work relevant to the handler's needs
- Handler skills for maintaining the training
How it's structured
This isn't a fixed package. After your evaluation we build a plan around your dog's temperament and history, your handling, the environment you live in, and the goals you've set. Session count, pacing, and the tools we use are all decided from there.
Training sessions typically last one hour, and we usually meet every 1–2 weeks depending on what works best for your schedule and ours. Pricing is discussed after the evaluation, once we know what your dog needs.
Service dog work is personal here. Our founder trained a service dog of their own, and that experience — the long hours, the mistakes, and the slow learning curve — shapes how we assess and support every team.

Start with an evaluation
Every program begins the same way — a conversation and an assessment, so the plan fits the dog.
