Meet Patriot Pawz
The people behind the training
Patriot Pawz K9 Training is a service-connected disabled veteran-owned and family-operated business serving Northern Utah. It started with one dog, one handler, and a whole lot of learning.
The founder
A veteran's second calling
Patriot Pawz was founded by Brennan Hymas, a United States Army veteran who served for 10 years before being medically discharged. That service shaped a way of working that carries into every lesson: preparation, patience, clear standards, and a refusal to cut corners.
What turned dogs from an interest into a profession was personal. Training a service dog of their own meant hours of work, plenty of mistakes, and a slow realization that the hardest part wasn't teaching the dog — it was learning to communicate clearly enough for the dog to understand.
That process gave back structure, confidence, and purpose. It also made one thing obvious: the same thing that helped one handler could help a lot of others.

Why Patriot Pawz exists
Owners should be part of the work
A lot of dog training happens to owners rather than with them. The dog comes back trained, the owner is handed a list of commands, and within a few weeks the old patterns creep back in.
Patriot Pawz was created for the opposite outcome. You're in the session. You learn the timing, the mechanics, and the reasoning. You leave knowing not just what to practice, but why it works.
Because the dog goes home with you — and that's where training actually has to hold up.
Our mission
At Patriot Pawz K9 Training, our mission is to strengthen the relationship between dogs and their owners through clear communication, individualized training, and mutual understanding.
We believe every dog is different, and effective training should be built around the individual dog, the handler, and their goals. We don't just teach dogs what to do—we teach owners how to communicate with their dogs, understand their behavior, and confidently continue their training in everyday life.
Our goal is to help create well-behaved, reliable, and confident dogs while empowering the people who love them with the knowledge and skills to succeed together.
Proudly serving Northern Utah. Every dog is different. Their training should be too.
